Contact me with this form. Tell me all about your project, including what type of editing you think will help most.

I respond with questions, such as, who is your audience? How many drafts have you written of this manuscript? If you seek a copyedit for a large project, I will request your document, so I can give you a free sample edit, typically a few double-spaced pages from the middle. Based upon your answers and the sample edit (if applicable), I will send you a project proposal, which includes a quote and timeline for editing your project.

We Agree to Collaborate. Once we decide to work together, we address the logistics. I’ll send a Letter of Agreement outlining the scope of work, schedule, and payment details.

You send the first payment, typically 50 percent of the total fee, which secures a spot in my editing schedule.

I edit your project. We communicate as needed via email or phone, whichever works best.

You receive a professionally edited document on time and after I’ve received the full payment (as arranged to both our satisfaction in the Letter of Agreement). We smile, shake hands, and skip on down the road.

PRICING

The cost of a project depends upon the type of editing required, the scope of the project, word count, your schedule, and my current workload. (Note: the industry standard for a manuscript page is a firm 250 words.) Fair and competitive, my rates are in line with the EFA (Editorial Freelancers Association) standards.

During the free consultation, we can develop a plan tailored to meet your specific needs as well as your budget. For example, instead of a full developmental edit, you might choose a manuscript evaluation, which includes one or two read-throughs of your manuscript and an editorial letter that identifies strengths and areas that need improvement.

Work begins upon receipt of your deposit, typically 50 percent of the total fee. An invoice for the final 50 percent payment will be sent during or at the end of the editing process. Unless agreed upon otherwise at the outset, payments should be made within fourteen days. Rush jobs may incur additional fees.
