I’m so pleased that Lauri Fortino interviewed me for her Frog on a (B)Log website! My picture book, Sophia and Sinclair Get Lost!, fits her 2024 focus on animal- and/or nature-themed stories.

Like me, Lauri is a member of 12 x 12 and SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators).

She is also a retired library assistant, a freelance writer and transcriptionist, and author of the children’s picture book, The Peddler’s Bed, which she describes as a “tale of kindness and giving,” in which a peddler “fails to sell a fine, handcrafted bed” to a man who has no bed at all. When it’s time to return to the road, what will the peddler do? Perhaps bestow a gift of gratitude?

Among the several thoughtful questions Lauri asked, this one made me ponder the most: “Your story features some real behaviors that wild animals exhibit. Why was it important to you to include realistic animal actions in your story?” Please find my answer and more on Lauri’s fun and informative children’s picture book website.
